I never thought about the background of this picture of Nathaniel and Emma when I took it in August of 1999. Eight years ago today it became important.
I went up in one of the towers in August of 2000. It was at night, and the twinkling lights of the city below enabled you to see how the earth curved. It was like standing on a saucer.
Neat. We never went up in the towers. Herb was upset enough that we couldn't go out into Lady Liberty's torch like he did when he was a kid. (I think I have that right!?)
