Tis A Puzzlement: Random Thoughts on the Anglican Issue

I hesitate to even post this, but it's been in my draft folder for three weeks, and I still have the same questions.

I've been reading everything I can on the Anglican situation. I understand most of it--the structure, etc. What I don't understand is how the Anglican liturgy is compatible with Catholicism and why it is being treated with so much respect.

I always thought that Thomas Cranmer, the architect of the Anglican "Lord's Supper" hated the theology of the Catholic Mass. Maybe this problem is being resolved quietly and that's why I haven't read anything about it.

I remember clearly how just a couple of years ago, traditional Catholics were insulted by other Catholics for their adherence to the ancient Catholic Mass. Now, great pains seem to be being taken to preserve the Anglican liturgy, and I have not read one negative remark about it.

I don't understand why the priests of the SSPX, who are celibate and receive traditional Thomistic formations, are denied canonical status, but even the married Anglican clergy will have it.

I've especially noticed that the word "schismatic" is avoided when referring to the Anglicans, although it is still used frequently by the media to describe the SSPX.

Catholic traditionalists I respect seem really happy about this re-unification, though, so I am expecting to be too.

Helpful comments are welcome.

Anthony and I are just as confused about the SSPX as you are. Though we attend an indult Mass we don't disprove of the SSPX-we consider them friends. I do not understand where we got the idea that the Anglicans are closer to us or something. They aren't Catholic. We have adopted your view-everyone else is happy about it so we must be happy too. However, that does not answer the question...

Thanks, Emily. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who is unsure about all this.

You expressed just how I feel when you said that you don't know "where we got the idea that the Anglicans are closer to us or something."

Oh, well--another good chance to practice humility.

I guess so.

Sorry for my less than intelligent wording of that thought. I was distracted and having a hard time saying what I wanted to say, and that is how it came out. :/

Hello Wendy Haught, you are right to be confused by the Novus Ordo head of the church welcoming and accepting Anglicans as they are WITHOUT THEM CONVERTING. That is indeed a strange thing for the Catholic Church to do if it is true. However, the reason why they (the Novus Ordo and all followers of the antipope) act the way they do is because they are *not* really the Catholic Church.
GOD's Truth and Way of Salvation has never changed and never will change. He is the same yesterday and today. Before Vatican II, GOD, through the documents and declarations of the Church, denounced the Anglicans and all the heretical sects as outside of the Catholic Church and that outside of the Catholic Church there is no salvation. Therefore, being without the status of being inside the Catholic Church, Anglicans do not have any orders in the Church. Those who stubbornly hold to the belief that Anglicans can be part of the Church without renouncing their heresies and becoming subject to the Roman Pontiff (the Catholic Church) become heretics themselves and condemned by the Church.
It is an error to believe that Protestants can please God as they are or that they are part of the same Church as Catholics is some way: 'Syllabus of Errors' by Pope Pius IX, Error number eighteen: "Protestantism is nothing more than another form of the same true Christian religion, in which form it is given to please God equally as in the Catholic Church.--Encyclical Noscitis, Dec. 8, 1849."
I have found that "pope francis" believes in the efficacy and therefore the pleasing quality of non-Catholics' prayers to GOD. This is one reason of many, many more that I cannot believe that he is the true shepherd of the Catholic Faith; he is rather a wolf in sheep's clothing, an antipope, along with B16, JP2, and all the 'popes' since Pope Pius XII. Please visit this website: http://www.mostholyfamilymonastery.com and learn all you can about the True Catholic Faith which is being hidden and suppressed these days by liberals.
Thank you for listening and may God Bless your search to please Him. Amen.

Thank you for writing, Kaitlyn. Yes, since this was published (2009), I have done a lot of studying and have come to the conclusion that the Novus Ordo is a new religion, and that the true Catholic Church has been without a pope since 1958. I am familiar with the Dimond Brothers but cannot endorse their website. I can with complete confidence recommend:

May God bless you.

Praise God that He has enlightened you thus far!
I see that you are in the CMRI group. I somewhat recently met an informed young man and a priest in that group (around a year or two ago) and I found out that they regrettably believed that God would not in His Mercy and Justice always lead to the True Faith one of good will who did not hold to the true Faith - invincible ignorance. Did you realize that the CMRI believed that souls could be saved who were not part of the body of the Church?
Thank you for answering me!
