Yesterday, via The Remnant, I watched the four Youtube videos of Oprah Winfrey's interview of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist from Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was amazingly good. One of the reasons was because Oprah was obviously pleasantly surprised. Lisa Ling, the Oprah show reporter who actually visited the nuns and was able to spend the night there, said that the nuns were some of the nicest people that she had ever met and clearly enjoyed her visit with them.
Several of the nuns talked about their lives prior to entering the convent. They had successful careers, boyfriends, etc., but still felt this emptiness that was only filled by the religious life. I suspected that Oprah knew firsthand the emptiness they were talking about.
Now I'm just waiting for her to add In This House of Brede to the Oprah Book Club reading list.
