Please pray for our friends and fellow parishioners, Greg and Sylina Strong. Their 2-year-old son, Augustine, drowned yesterday. Though his death is tragic, as the 11th child out of 12 he enjoyed more love and affection in his short time here than most children do throughout their childhood.
I have learned much from the Strongs. I never fully understood the negatives of having a small family until I witnessed the positives of this large one. It is the most pleasant experience to sit behind them at church because the children are so well behaved every week. They are attentive to the Mass and good, patient, and kind with each other. The eldest one, who is 16, recently came to waltz class with us and was such a gentleman,--a real joy.
And what about money? Greg is a mechanic. Sylina is a homemaker. Yet their children are some of the most consistently happy children that I have ever seen.
I thought of the Strongs and laughed when I read about the women in England who are wearing pajamas to the grocery store. One of them said that it was too hard to get dressed and get three children to school on time! Pitiful. They should meet the Strongs and glimpse the heroic.

So glad I found your blog but so sad on the circumstances - I came here after hearing about little Gus. The family is in our prayers.
May I ask where you go to Mass (Traditional Catholic)? I was attending the traditional mass but it is rather far. I'm always looking for kindred spirits, so to speak!
Ah, never mind. I just happened on your Christmas post and recognized the church! My two oldest were baptized at that church by Fr. Buffet!
I hate the circumstances, too, but welcome, Milehimama.
I am also always on the lookout for kindred spirits--comes with the trad territory, I guess.
Fr. Buffet? Was that in the '80s?
Late 90's. He had red hair. At that time we lived in Matagorda county. We moved about 18 times since - and ended back here! But we're up north. I go to St. Michael's when my husband isn't working.
