We're on a turmeric latte thang.
I know. We just keep getting weirder and weirder. But gosh, Emma and I love them.
Now if I could just make them without creating such a mess.
Between heating coconut milk on the stove and stirring in a couple of spoonfuls of turmeric paste, grinding the spices, and buzzing the whole shebang in the blender with hot water and a little honey and a few tablespoons of collagen powder, it looks like a turmeric tornado passed through the kitchen by the time I pour it into a cup.
Oh, well. Life is messy, and most of our life is in the kitchen, it seems. Hopefully our messy lives will be somewhat less inflamed with the help of all this turmeric. I got the recipe from Dr. Kelly Brogan.
Her directions are as follows:
I dump in more like a half cup of coconut milk and add a tablespoon of MCT oil and 3 tablespoons of grassfed beef collagen powder. I only add the oil and collagen powder to 1 cup a day. I grind the cardamom fresh and pour it generously right from the work bowl of the grinder--measuring spoons be damned--into the pot on the stove, forming a fearsome flavor mountain that soon melts into the luxurious lake of latte lusciousness. Once it's heated, I whir the heady concoction in the blender till it's smooth and frothy. It's soooooo satisfying. Kinda makes you feel all peaceful and serene, too. And wise, like you are at one with the universe and can solve all problems. Tee-hee! Or maybe that feeling comes from singing along to the One Call Away video as I stir the pot, phone in one hand and spoon in the other.
I sprinkle extra nutmeg on top before savoring the creamy goodness. I find this turmeric latte makes a first-rate breakfast-on-the-go for people who want to glow.
