Photo by EmmalineThis beautiful woodpecker crashed into a tree in our backyard and fell to the ground, giving Emma an opportunity to rescue him and let him recover in a bucket. He stayed in there for about ten minutes, then flew away to a pecan tree and immediately began pecking.

I still remember how those baby woodpeckers smelled that we "rescued" from their home when we were kids. Sweet memories.
Oh, me too! And feeding them Bisquick dough, poor things. And losing one in the bilge of the boat.
