Chicks on the Move

The mama hen and her four chicks have moved from the toolshed to the mobile PVC pen that my husband put together for us a couple of years ago.  It is wonderfully lightweight and has a handle on each end.  I'm not sure if it qualifies as a chicken tractor, because the bottom is covered in chicken wire too.  The pen has been sitting empty for a couple of years, so grass had grown up all through it.  That's why it looks like we put hay in the bottom.  Mama hen is happy with the new digs, her only complaint is that there is no roost.  Emma and I went to check on them the other night and discovered her roosting on top of the waterer, which you can see on the left end of the pen.  Her chicks were trying to stay under her, but parts of them were hanging out.  A couple fell off as we watched, prompting Emma to start singing, "There were ten in the bed and the little one said,  'Roll over.  I'm crowded.'  So they all rolled over and one fell out. . ."

Maybe he can build a room addition that is only a roost?
